Terms & Conditions
A deposit of 25% of the Course Fee is usually required at the time of booking. The balance will usually be paid 2 weeks before the start date of the course. Any outstanding balance must be settled in cash on the morning of the first day.
Charts, navigational instruments, and all other necessary equipment to complete the course will be supplied by the School. All equipment loaned out for the Course remains the property of the School. We do not supply wet weather clothing as it’s not usually needed in the Algarve. However it’s always a good idea to have some form of protection and if needed we can assist you in this matter.
Meals, drinks and accommodation are not usually provided by the school. Students usually eat ashore in the marina or bring a packed lunch. Please bring any special foodstuffs/medicines with you.
All students must reveal to the School when booking a course, any medical history which may affect their participation. Any such information will be held in strict confidence. It will be the final decision of the Principal as to whether the student is accepted on the course. To assist the Principal with such a decision, a written judgment may be required from the student’s own doctor.
All students will provide the School with the name and contact number of a person to call in the event of an emergency. This should not be a fellow student on the boat with you!
All prospective students will be asked to disclose their boating experience to date, some of our courses are aimed at beginners, however others require previous experience and prior knowledge. Each student accepts responsibility to ensure the course they are taking is the right course for them and the tuition and any certification gained is suitable for any boating they expect to undertake.
If you intend to apply for an ICC after the course please make sure that you are eligible.
For many courses you will need a physical passport photo, there are options in Lagos if needed.
If for any reason we need to cancel a course, for weather conditions for example, we will try to change the date or provide a full refund. If you cancel we will try to fill the place, if this is not possible then your deposit/payment will be retained.
Each student accepts responsibility to look after themselves during a course and by accepting a place on this course and signing the booking form confirm that they will not hold Algarve Boat Courses or their instructor responsible for any personal injury, loss or damage whilst attending a course. It is recommended that students take out their own travel insurance.
Any complaints relating to the School, any of its staff or any equipment supplied, will be made in writing to the Principal. The Principal’s decision in any such matter will be final, and communicated in writing to the complainant. If the student is not satisfied with the decision of the Principal, the matter may be referred to the RYA, whose address will be provided by the School.
The information you supply us is used to make sure you are on the correct course and if there is an accident we have someone to call. For many of the courses your certificate will be registered with the RYA with your name, date of birth and address. Your information will not be passed to any third parties. We will contact you occasionally and you will have the option to opt out anytime, if desired.
